Obituary of Joanne C. Kowalski

Joanne C. Kowalski Joanne C. Kowalski, age 69 years, died August 4 at her home in Pitman, NJ after a brief illness. Born in Woodbury, NJ, she grew up in Pitman. Over the years she lived in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA and for the past twenty years lived in Pitman. She graduated from Pitman High School in 1972, where she was a member of the PHS Tri-County South Jersey Group Championship Girls Tennis Team. She graduated from American University and received her BA in American Studies in 1976. For many years, she worked for the Washington Capitals NHL Hockey Team and most recently for the Social Security Administration in Philadelphia, retiring in 2021. Joanne made many friends over the years, and stayed in contact with those who moved out of the area. She was always willing to help take care of relatives, and was known for her friendly and caring nature. She never forgot birthdays or special occasions, and loved going the extra mile to bring joy into the lives of others. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Josephine (Mirenda) Kowalski. She is survived by her sister Mary Jane Kowalski, of Swampscott, MA and by many cousins, especially Jayne Headley of Bridgeton, NJ and Laura Lang of Sewell, NJ, and godchildren; Alex Lang of Boston, MA and Jason Rhinehart of Bellmawr, NJ. Friends may call on Friday, August 11 from 9:30 to 10:30AM in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Interment St. Bridget's Cemetery, Glassboro, NJ.
