Obituary of Rose D. LaPierre

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rose D. LaPierre (Damato), age 95, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on August 28, 2023. Rose was the thirteenth, and the last surviving, of fourteen children raised by Italian immigrants in Union, NJ. In that large family she learned the importance of faith and family. As a young woman she was employed as a beautician and as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. In 1958 Rose married the love of her life, Wilfred LaPierre of Berkeley Heights, NJ. In 1960, Rose followed her husband to Wiesbaden, Germany where he served in the United States Air Force. When they returned to the United States, they settled in Mount Holly, NJ and then in Eastampton, NJ where they raised their three children. Rose was a devoted and loving wife and mother that involved her family in many activities that included scouting, sports, and membership at the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Holly. When her children were enrolled in school, Rose was able to fulfill many part-time positions which included those as school lunch aide, home health aide, childcare provider, and bus driver for the disabled. After Rose and Wilfred retired, they moved to Crestwood Village in Whiting, NJ and later to Mount Laurel, NJ. They were members of the Whiting and Marlton United Methodist Churches for many years. Rose enjoyed trips to the beach, traveling, and visiting casinos every so often. After her husband's death, Rose moved to the United Methodist Community in Pitman, NJ where she made many wonderful friends. She is survived by her children Mary Casper (Leo), Susan LaPierre (Terri Lovelace), and John LaPierre (Lorraine) and grandchildren Megan, Matthew, Alyssa, Timothy, Nicholas, the late Montana (2020), and Marissa. She is a beloved aunt to "many" nieces and nephews. Rose's Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Community of Pitman, 535 North Oak Avenue, Pitman, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose may be sent to the United Methodist Communities Foundation, 3311 State Route 33, Neptune, NJ 07753. Please indicate "In Memory of Rose LaPierre for Pitman Manor".
