Claire, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm praying that you can find some comfort in your memories and in the knowledge that you will see Mike again. Cling to Jesus. "the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name." In your pain and grief, know that Jesus is walking with you through this difficult journey, even when you can't feel His presence. Mike and Steve are singing together once again.
"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope." In the midst of your deepest pain and tears, you do have hope.

I wrote this for Mike when I had lost a baby early on in the pregnancy. He was there for me when my husband had been away on business.
God’s Love – With Skin On
When I was hurting deep within,
When sorrow was in my song,
You were there and held my hand –
You were God’s caring Love with skin on.
When I ached for the loss of my baby,
When I wondered what I had done wrong,
Your response was “Nothing, God holds you safely.”
You were God’s tender Love with skin on.
When I felt my life was coming apart
And I had no desire to live on,
You prayed for Jesus to enter my heart –
You were God’s gracious Love with skin on.
You’ve shown me that all is a part of God’s plan -
That in sorrow or joy I am blessed.
You told me that Jesus is holding my hand
And in that assurance I can rest.
And now, Little Brother, you can rest in God's amazing grace, love and mercy.

I met Mike the first day we moved into Mullica Hall at Rowan University. He was such a warm and friendly person and a good friend. Super smart and talented. He always tried to help everyone. I have happy memories of walking with him on campus to the Student Center. I remember when he first started going into computer work when no one really understood computers or software. I haven't seen him in many years but I have happy memories of him. Love to the family. Mary Ellen Hoffman - now Mary Ellen Doran

My thoughts are with your friends and family. I worked with Mike at Burlington for many years. I remember when we we hired him in 1994. I left not too many months later, but had the pleasure of working with him for 13+ more years when I returned in 2000. I am sorry that I am unable to pay my respects to Mike's family and friends today, but need you to know that I am thinking about him today. Mike was a unique individual and I enjoyed spending time discussing various topics with him (both work and personal). I was looking back at my emails with Mike - I literally had over 1,000 emails I had exchanged directly with him over the years. During the years we worked together, Mike had a happy birthday wish from me every year. How ironic that today is his birthday.
Mike was a great guy, as I am sure you know and you should know that he touch many people over the years (including myself). My thoughts are with his family!

I got to know Mike when we were in college together at what is now Rowan University. We were part of the same group of friends. I’m not sure what connected us all, besides the fact that everyone in our group was kind, friendly and fun. We all had different majors, but we loved to spend time together outside of classes. I will always remember Mike as a voice of reason amid the chaos that is college life. He was kind, level-headed, smart - a great friend to so many.
Although we haven’t been able to get together much in recent years, I will always have fond memories of Mike. We were blessed to have him in our lives.

This is so unexpected .
Mike , Mr. Hoskins, Sensei and I met at the Pitman O.K.K.A. dojo in 1998 .He and I tested for five black belt tests together earning them all. Since we were both the same rank / age we were often teamed up together for drills, sparring and such for almost 20 years in Pitman and away for seminars, exhibitions, tournaments and testing. Some of my favorite memories include when he would rush in to change while I would be warming up my Saturday class and start to torture my students. Always having a good time he would lean in my ear and call me a " sick individual".
One time Shihan asked us during a tournament to give an Yakasoko exhibition . This particular one involved having your feet quickly swept out from under you and being thrown to the ground.when it was Mikes turn he swept my feet so quick and hard I was actually counting my hang time.Mike apologized for a month over that.
Mike was a gentle person . He loved his wife , his sons his job and the dojo.
He was also loved .
I will miss you my friend. I can still hear you calling me a " sick individual" and it always makes me grin . .

I've known Mike since I was a teenager, babysitting his kids. We studied karate together for a time as well, and became friends at the dojo. It's hard to think of him now a believe that he could be gone. My sincerest condolences to Claire and the rest of the family during these sad times

Mike was one of the most helpful people I knew, kind and generous. Back in the last millennium when I was just learning computers it was Mike who very patiently taught me how to do email. When my husband was so ill, Mike kept in touch and went to visit him. He will be remembered. I am sorry for your loss.
