Obituary of Carl M. Kummer

Carl Martin Kummer, age 87, of Pitman, NJ, passed away on March 12, 2024, in Cooper University Hospital, after a long health battle begun with heart complications. Carl lived his childhood and youth in Wenonah, NJ, and his entire married life in Pitman, NJ, for 64 years, with his wife Eleanor. He spent 5 years as a radio operator in the US Coast Guard, and most of his work career as an electrician at Atlantic City Electric. He was very active in the Pitman United Methodist Church, was a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Worldwide Dickens Fellowship, an avid golfer, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and was known for being Uncle Sam in the Wenonah and Pitman 4th of July parades for many years. He always had time to assist anyone with anything they needed. Carl truly had a servant's heart. He loved animals and volunteered in later life to help shelter cats to be adopted. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor nee Brooks, three daughters and their husbands, and five grandchildren (all who adored their "Pop"). Memorial donations may be made to St; Jude's Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers. A graveside service for family and friends is being held on Saturday, March 16th at 11:00 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Sewell, NJ. Carl will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
