Obituary of Eugene W. Thies, Sr.

Eugene W. Thies, Sr., age 87 years of Washington Twp. NJ, died June 19 at Kennedy Memorial Hosp. in Wash. Twp., NJ. Born in Washington Twp., he was a lifelong resident of Chapel Heights section of Washington Twp. and a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during WWII. He owned and operated Hillcrest Realty for over 35 years before his retirement in 1981. Mr. Thies served on the Board of Directors for Glouc. Co. Federal Savings Bank for over 50 years, starting when the bank was known as the Pitman Savings and Loan Assoc.. He was a member and past president of the Gloucester County of Board of Realtors, the Board of Education in Washington Twp. and the Pitman Lions Club. Predeceased by his wife Edith B. (nee Baker), his sons Wayne D. and Gary D. Thies. Survived by his son Eugene (Faye) W. Jr., of Sewell, grandchildren Eugene III, David, Andrew, Lisa Kelly, Laura Jones, Rachel, Jacob, and Ethan, 7 great grandchildren, and daughters in law, Linda and Deborah Thies. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements by the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ.
