Obituary of Lawrence August Hayden

Lawrence August Hayden, age 88 years, died December 14, 2012 at Vitas Hospice, Stratford, NJ. He was born in Scotch Valley, PA and raised in Hazelton, PA has lived in Pitman since 1955. He was veteran of the US Marine Corp, during WW 2, in the heavy artillery crew in the Pacific Theatre. Graduate of Hazelton High School, Muhlenburg College, and Bucknell University for his masters Degree. He taught in Pitman School System, and was principle of Summit Ave. School, Pitman Middle School Wing, and Memorial Schools before his retirement. He was the last surviving life guard for Alcyon Lake Park, Pitman. He is survived by children Mark (Sue), Melanie ( Fernando) Hayden-Gracie, Matthew (Kristen), step-children John (Deborah) Newcomb, Daniel (Karen) Newcomb, Pete (Lynn) Newcomb, grandchildren Josey, Narisa, Asha, Brittany, Alec, Devaney, Bethany, Haley, Blake, and sister Jean Reteneller. Friends are invited to greet the family wed. from 7 to 9PM and Thursday after 10AM in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ. Memorial Service 11AM. Interment Gloucester Co.
