Rose Primack, 91, of Pitman, NJ, passed away on May 7 in Pitman Manor. A resident of Pitman for many years, Rose formerly resided in Glassboro. She was a retired Glassboro State College professor (now Rowan University), where she taught students majoring in psychology and elementary education. Rose was a community activist in Pitman, for many years taking a front row seat at both Pitman Borough Council and Pitman Board of Education meetings. A staunch environmentalist, Rose was a former member of the Pitman Environmental Commission and the Gloucester County Nature Club. She was also well known for her Letters to the Editor, published in numerous newspapers. Rose was never afraid to voice her opinions, of which she had many. She generously donated to a variety of organizations, including the Pitman Education Foundation, McCowan Library, Pitman Welfare, the Pitman Memorabilia Committee, the Nature Conservancy and Planned Parenthood. She provided substantial scholarships to graduating Pitman High School seniors who were pursuing careers relating to environmental and performing art ventures and had made provisions for that scholarship to continue well into the future. Rose will be missed by her many friends. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Sunday, June 10 at 1:30 pm in the Pitman Camp Meeting Auditorium, located in the center of the Pitman Grove. Rose donated her body to the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Gift of Life Foundation.
