Eigil Pichard, born in Denmark November 7, 1910, died December 4, 2007 at the Millville Center. He was 97 years old. There is only one way to describe Eigil Pichard. Truly a wonderful man, husband and father figure to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Kathryn Pichard/Messick (nee Basich), children Wayne Messick, Peter Messick, Joyce Messick, Jean Oliver/Hearn, grandchildren Marilynn Kelly, Cheryl Marcucci, Dolly Imperial, John Galli, Mike Messick, Karen Messick, Linda Joans, Maureen Beaufait, Jennifer O'Donnell, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He enjoyed a wonderful life with his first wife Mary Pichard who died after 25 years of marriage. Eigil worked and served with the Marchant Marine as Deck Crew Chief for over 20 years. He was a Fire Boat Pilot for over 30 years with the Philadelphia Fire Department and for several years he was a Cape May Ferry Boat Captain. Kathryn and Eigil shared most of their retired life traveling, playing cards with their friends, dancing to polka and big band music. He enjoyed his life to the fullest including his clam chowder and cheeses up to the last days of his life. God bless his soul and a happy life in heaven. Friends may call on Monday after 2pm in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service 3pm. Interment Tuesday at 11am in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cold Springs, NJ.
