Doris H. Dorofee, (nee Eskridge), 85 of Woodbury, wife of the late Charles Dorofee, passed from this life on February 12, 2008. Born the daughter of Anna (Neal ) and Elwood Eskridge of Galestown, Maryland, Oct.1, 1922, she was the sister of James, Ruth, and Anne. She and her family moved to Camden, New Jersey, in her youth, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School. Throughout her life, she worked in a variety of fields, including bank teller, Shop-Rite cashier, and legal secretary for a number of notable local attorneys, among them William Gravino, Esq., the Honorable Judge Joseph Lisa, and Angelo Falciani, Esq. Doris began raising a family in Deptford, New Jersey, having two wonderful sons, Scott J. Hilbmann and David A. Hilbmann. She shared their involvement in church, Boy Scouts (Troop 74 of Woodbury), and the first PTA of Lake Tract School. As her sons grew up and moved on, she and her husband Charles became involved with bus trips with SCUCCS, traveling to a variety of places. She enjoyed being with her family, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and working for Jack Scott and the Phillies Welcome Staff. Her more recent activities were bowling and being a part of the local senior citizens groups. She was also an avid animal lover, caring for her dog Randy and her cats Kitty 1 and 2. Many of her friends were a daily part of her last years, including her close friends Kathy and Merle Bakely, Evelyn Trautman, Phil Connor, Carol Pemberton, Bernice Briley, Sue Schrock, John Baptiste, Karen (her devoted hairdresser) and Jesse (her mail carrier). Doris was predeceased by her husband Charles Dorofee. She leaves behind her two sons, Scott J. Hilbmann, and David A. Hilbmann (Linda); her step-daughter Dorothy Ray (William); and grandchildren Colleen Hilbmann, Craig Hilbmann, Jennifer Beckman (Jon), Kyle Ray (Lila); her great-grandchildren Audrey Rae Beckman and Amalia Ray; and her niece Delores Naticchia; along with a host of other grandchildren and great-grand-children. Friends may call on Friday after 11 AM in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ. Funeral service at 12 Noon. Interment private. Contributions may be made to the Glouc. Co. Animal Shelter, 1200 Delsea Dr., Clayton, NJ 08318. .
