Obituary of John M. Sooy

Dr. John Milton Sooy, age 74 years, of Wenonah, NJ, died March 16 at Thomas Jefferson Univ. Hospital., Phila., PA. Born and raised in Gloucester City, he raised his family in Pitman. He was a graduate of Glouc. City High School and Glassboro State Teachers College (Rowan Univ.). He received his Masters degree from the Univ. of Penna. and his Doctorate from Temple Univ. He was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Whos Who Among American College Students. He taught mathematics for 43 years, mostly at Glassboro State College where he was Mathematics Dept. Chairman and Graduate Chairman. He was instrumental in developing the graduate program in Mathematics. He enjoyed boating at his Brigantine home with his family and global traveling. His kindness and sense of adventure will be missed by all Survived by his wife Marianne E. (nee Eisenhardt), children Sharon A. Habina (Ed) of Chester Springs, PA, John M. Sooy (Katherine) of Wenonah, and Kirsten M. Sooy (Rick) of Hammonton, grandchildren Gary, EJ, John, Christopher, Laura, Marisa, and Kailyn. Also survived by sisters Wendellyn Wendy Pfeffer (Tom), Margaret Sally Bridwell (Nagle), Adelaide Weidknecht (Paul deceased). Predeceased by brother Frank Nelson Sooy.
