Obituary of Clara M. Guenther

Clara Claire M. Guenther (nee Nyland), age 82 of Pitman, formerly of Sayreville, NJ passed away peacefully at Bridgeton Hospice on March 20, 2008 with her family at her side. Claire was born Nov. 11, 1925 in Maspeth Queens, NY. She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years Henry Hank, her loving son Bruce, mother Lillian (nee Goldsmith), father Edward Nyland, step father Mitzi Ochiai, brother Tadao Ochiai and sister Dorothy Stumpf. Claire is survived by her children Susan (Roger) Baker, Brian Guenther with whom she lived, Kathleen (Robert) Klein and Glenn (Laurel) Guenther, grandchildren Kevin and Valerie Baker, Michelle and Tricia Witkins, Gregory and Kenneth Guenther, Nyland Powers and brother Lawrence Nyland of TX. Claire worked for the borough of Sayreville for 23 years, retiring as Deputy Borough Clerk in 1990. She served as president of the Parlin Womens Club, the Mothers of Twins Club and was a member of the Sayreville Democrat Club. Claire taught Sunday school at Christ Church in South Amboy for many years. She enjoyed the NY Times Crossword Puzzle, Jeopardy, Scrabble and traveling. Her greates joy was her family. Friends may call on Monday after 9:30am in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ 08071. Funeral service 11am. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery.
