Obituary of Geraldine W. Byers

Geraldline Jerry Byers (nee Weaver), age 88 years of Pitman, NJ died March 30 at Virtua Hospital, Mt. Holly, NJ. Born in Wilmerding, PA, she had lived in Pitman since 1958. Being a member of a Navy family, her youth was spent in many places in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. She received a Bach. of Science degree from Indiana State Univ., in Indiana, PA. Beloved wife of 62 years to Kenneth Byers, also survived by her sons Peter and wife, Inta, of Pitman, James and wife, Maureen, of Miami Beach, FL, a daughter, Martha Marnie Allen of Miami Shores, FL, 3 granddaughters, Stacy, Jaimie, and Amanda, grandson Kenny, and sister Lucy Stetter of Pitman. Predeceased by her daughter Katie. She served as a single mom for several years while her husband was performing duties overseas with the U. S. Marine Corps. Jerry was an avid bridge player until her recent illness, and enjoyed playing with her long time friends. For many years, she participated in national tournaments from Washington D.C. to Boston, enjoying success along the way. Her accomplishments enabled her to achieve Life Master in the American Bridge Society. She and her husband Kenny enjoyed watching sports, dining out, and dancing. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday after 10 AM in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ. Funeral service at 11 AM. Interment Hillcrest Mem. Park.
