Robert Thomas Riccio, 56, the recently retired Principal of The Cumberland County Technical Education Center died at his home in Pitman, NJ on 11th June, following a two year struggle against Glioblastoma Multiforme, a form of brain cancer. Born in Jersey City, NJ Mr. Riccio attended Marist High School in Bayonne and following graduation from Glassboro State College (Rowan University) began his career in education with a teaching position in Littleton, New Hampshire. Following this he returned to New Jersey to continue his career in teaching with positions at Camden County Vocational School and the Gloucester County Institute of Technology, prior to joining the administration at Cumberland County. Mr. Riccio was a champion and advocate on behalf of his students, teachers and colleagues and will be most remembered for his warm smile and his generous heart. Robert was an avid bicyclist, participating in club and competitive cycling for many years, a guitarist of considerable skill and a lover of nature. Robert is survived by his wife Coleen and his children Emily and Daniel; his Mother, Mrs. Helen Riccio and sister Roberta Kenny both of Hoboken, NJ and his brother Frank of Brielle, NJ. Friends may call on Sunday 6-9pm in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ and on Monday 9-10:30am in the First Presbyterian Church, 305 S. Broadway, Pitman, NJ 08071.
