Obituary of Robert Roland Esbjornson

Robert R. Esbjornson, age 87 years, of Pitman, NJ, died July 14 at Manor Care, West Deptford, NJ. Born in Springfield, MA, he lived most of his life in Pitman. He graduated from Pitman High School in 1938, attended Williston Academy, and graduated from Penns Military College (Widener University). He later attended Temple University, where he received his Masters degree in Special Education. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the first Army football team to play in Japan after WWII. He was employed by the Southern District Special Education of Burlington County for over 20 years. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where he served on the Vestry, the Ys Men Club of Pitman, and the McCowan Library Board. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane B. (nee Bowen), daughter Barbara J. Powell of Woodbury, and grandson Robert B. Powell of Mantua. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30AM to 10:30AM in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ. Holy Eucharist at 11 AM in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 315 Highland Terrace, Pitman, NJ 08071. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
