Donald W. Mumford, age 85 years, of Glassboro, NJ died October 16 at Kennedy Memorial Hosp. Wash. Twp. Div.. Born in New Brighton, PA, he had been a resident of Glassboro since 1962. He was a graduate of Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA and attended the Univ. of Pittsburgh for his Masters degree, which he received from Rensselaer Polytechnic Inst., Troy, NY. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater for the U.S. Army. He was the Director of Student Teaching and Placement Services at Glassboro State College (Rowan Univ.) from 1962 until his retirement in 1985. A former member of the Glassboro School Board, and the Glassboro Library Board, he was a volunteer at Elmer Community Hospital. He was a member of the 1st United Meth. Church of Glassboro, and served on the Building Committee for their new church. Predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Catherine M. (nee McCurdy). Survived by his son Robert E. (Kathy) of Haddonfield, daughter Jane (Robert) Simpson of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren Ian and Hilary Simpson, Caitlin and Gregory Mumford, and sister Bettie Houk of Tempe, AZ. Rev. Dr. Karl Kraft will officiate at his Memorial Service on Monday, Oct. 27 at 10AM in the 1st United Meth. Church of Glassboro, 56 N. Academy St., Glassboro, NJ, where friends may call after 9AM.
