Frances S. Johnson of Pitman, born October 8, 1947 in Jersey City and formerly of Cedar Grove died suddenly in Reno, NV while attending a conference. She was the daughter of Joe and Helen Swigon. She is survived by her mother Helen Swigon of Washington Twp., NJ, sister Emelia Maloid of Lovettesville, VA, husband Carl F. Johnson and son Wesley Johnson of Pitman, NJ. She also has three sons from a previous marriage to Tom Waters of Lively, VA. They are Justin Waters of Atlanta, GA, Mark Waters of Lively, VA, Matt Waters and wife Anne of Birmingham, AL who gave her three grandson Jack, Sam and Luke. She attended James Madison University, Christopher Newport College and Old Dominion University before receiving her Ph.D. in English and Composition from the University of Oklahoma. She was hired by Rowan University in 1996 and taught writing and composition and later became Director of the Faculty Department Center. She was also a union representative. Frances was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Pitman where she was a Lector, President of the Rosary and Altar Society and active in the AOC. A memorial mass will be Friday, October 31 at 11am in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Pitman Ave, Pitman. Friends may call after 10am.
