Margaret (Marge) Marie Mecouch (nee Alexander) of Pitman, beloved mother and grandmother and a fighter till the end, passed away on December 26, 2008 with her family at her side after a courageous battle against cancer. Marge was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Alexander and grew up in Clayton, NJ. She married Dale Mecouch, Sr. and raised her 9 children in the Glassboro/Pitman area. Marge had worked as a waitress in various restaurants throughout the area and in her later years was a caregiver for the elderly. Marge was a truly selfless woman who cared most for her family. She was her children's most passionate supporter and best friend. If you messed with her family, you'd hear it from Marge. Even though she was small in stature, she was huge with heart and tough as nails. No one could tell a story like Marge, she had a great sense of humor. Her grandchildren loved to hear Grandmom tell stories of old Pitman Grove days when their parents were growing up. Everyone would howl with laughter. She was the cornerstone of our family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her 2 loving daughters, Gail Turner (Ken) of Williamstown and Holly Mecouch of Franklinville, 7 devoted sons Dale Jr. (Annella) of Williamstown, Thomas (Stephanie), John (Diane), Doug (Donna), Harry and Mac all of Pitman and Lemuel (Kelly) of Mantua. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Gail, Thomas Jr, Joey, Alex, Samantha, Erica, Taylor, Sarah, Dale, Harry, Josh, Paige, Holly, Mac and Johnny and great granddaughters Katelyn and Carly. Also survived by her friend and former husband Dale Mecouch, Sr. Marge was predeceased by her parents and siblings Lemuel, Sarah, Harry, Joe, Eddie and Delores. Also predeceased by a special man in her life Ron Hahn with whom she shared many wonderful memories and her daughter in law Cherie Mecouch. Memorial mass will be on Wednesday at 11am in St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ where friends may call after 10am. Marge was an animal lover and always had pets. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter in Marge's memory, 1200 Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ 08312. Arrangements by the Kelley Funeral Home, Pitman.
