Michael "Mickey" Liscovitz, 92, of Pitman, NJ passed away on Feb. 1, 2013 at the Pitman Manor, surrounded by the love of his extended family. There will be a private family service in his honor on Feb. 6th. Entombment will be at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Monroe Township, NJ. Mickey was the youngest of five siblings born in Plymouth, PA to George and Mary (Bouika) Liscovitz, immigrants from Austria-Hungary. He served as a Staff Sergeant with the 236 Signal Corps during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater. After graduating from Baldwin-Wallace College, he married his beloved wife Rosanne. They moved from Flushing, NY, to Needham, MA, before settling in Middlesex, NJ to raise a family of five children. Mickey worked during that time as a district sales manager for the Schlitz Brewing Company and for the Guinness-Harp Corporation. Upon retiring in 1985, Mickey and Rosanne moved to the Cedar Glen Lakes community in Whiting, NJ. During retirement, Mickey loved to travel to follow the exploits of his 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and bocce in his later years. He was fond of telling stories about his childhood and of spending time with his family. A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Mickey is survived by his wife, Rosanne, and his children Diane (John) Syzmanski, Michael (Joanne) Liscovitz, Stephen (Carol) Liscovitz, Mary Jane (David) Kamerer and John (Patricia) Liscovitz. He was preceded in death by his sisters Frances Kachinko and Ann Cook, and his brothers George and John. Friends and family will miss an honest, kind, big-hearted man who took an interest in all aspects of their lives. His extended family plans to celebrate his life with a gathering this summer.
