Agnes H. Schumann (Nee Fulton), age 85 years of Pitman died Tuesday, March 31 at Underwood Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Dear wife of the late, Robert H. Schumann. Beloved mother of daughters Jeanne Karnuk of Pitman, Mary Stech (William) of Pitman, Anna Goetter (R.C.) of Williamstown, Willa Centanni (Joseph) of Deptford, sons Robert H. Jr. (Ann) of Mullica Hill and Andrew (Rebecca) of Vineland. Also survived by brother Jack Fulton of Pitman, thirteen grandchildren, Bobby, Linda, Bryan, Lisa, Christopher, Bill, Jennifer, Athena, Joey, Lori, Connie, Andy and Tiffany, and ten great grandchildren. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts her family moved to Pitman in 1932. She was the daughter of Thomas and Jeanie Fulton. Agnes was devoted to her community and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pitman since the age of eight. Agnes also had a very strong circle of friends, who were both loving and loyal. Her parent's store, Fulton's Market, opened in 1933, was located across from Alcyon Lake. Agnes and her brother Jack spent much of their youth, through high school, working at the family business. While working at the store, Agnes met her future husband Bob, a young boy from Camden. Bob would ride his bike to Pitman and camp out at Alcyon Park. Bob joined the U.S. military during World War II, which did not deter their relationship. Agnes and Bob married in 1943 and lived together at several military bases before Bob served in the European Theater. Upon his return from military service, the young couple settled in Pitman where they opened a grocery store on East Holly Avenue next to the high school. Always one to put others first, Agnes served as a role model for her many children and grandchildren. She was always a strong supporter of her grandchildren's sporting events and activities, as well as a very loyal and devoted Phillies fan. Agnes also enjoyed spending her summers in Ocean City, NJ with friends and family. Friends may call on Saturday 9-10:45am in the First Presbyterian Church of Pitman, 305 S. Broadway, Pitman, NJ 08071. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Bethel Cemetery, Washington Twp.
