Obituary of Mildred D. Newbern

Mildred D. Newbern, age 87 died on May 23, 2009. Born and raised in Collingswood, she was a graduate of Collingswood High School in 1939. Mildred was a former member of the Frances Childs United Methodist Church in West Collingswood. She moved to the Woodbury/Westville area in 1967 and has lived in the Pitman Manor since 2005. She worked for RCA and in 1967 began working as an Executive Secretary for Underwood Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1986. Mildred attended the First Baptist Church in Woodbury where she was the accompanist for the church choir. She was an avid traveler and continued to play the piano for services in local nursing homes and for the chapel services at Pitman Manor. For many years, she was active in and served as a leader of the South Jersey Organization of Christian Business and Professional Women. She is survived by her cousin Mark Helms of Woodbury. Graveside services will be on Thursday at 1:30pm in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. Contributions may be made to the Pitman Manor Fellowship Fund, 535 N. Oak Ave, Pitman, NJ 08071.
