Kenneth L. Stanton, Sr., age 86 years, of Mantua, died Sept. 12 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer diagnosed in June 1995. Born in Woodbury, he was a proud Pitman resident most of his life, graduating from Pitman High School in 1942. As a Tri-County champion in Basketball, he earned a full scholarship to Temple University. While attending Temple, he was drafted into the Army and proudly served his country as a member of the 10th Mountain Division Ski Troopers, fighting in the Italian campaign. He retired from Mobil in 1982, after 35 years as a supervisor in sales. Ken was an original Cedar Chips Band member, now known as the Hobo Band. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine (nee French), son Kenneth Jr., daughter Jeanne, grandsons Danny and Steven Hudgins. Graveside Services will be held Friday, Sept. 18, at 11AM in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Delsea Drive, Washington Twp., NJ. Arrangements by the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, Pitman, NJ.
