William J. Wagner Sr., who grew up in the Philadelphia area, died in his Franklinville, NJ home on October 22, 2009 at the age of 85. During World War II, he served in the US Marine Corps on board the USS Biloxi. As a Seagoing Marine aboard the "Double Lucky," his duty included campaigns in the Philippines, Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, most recently of the Glassboro, NJ Chapter. Upon returning home from duty, he married and raised a family with his beloved "Izzy" Isabelle "Sis" Wagner (nee Hogg) of Philadelphia. In 1958, they moved to Franklinville where he built them their dream home. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Bill spent most of his life providing service for others, first as a plumber, then at DuPonts, and later Head of Maintenance for the Swedesboro, NJ School District. He is survived by his loving family, Sisters: Catherine Bythway of Delaware, Betty Schmidt of Pennsylvania, Children: William and wife Ingrid Wagner, Steven and wife Denise Wagner, Dr. Louise and husband Dr. Joseph Price, Grandchildren: Linnea, Kristen, Erik, Kurt, Carl, Sarah, Aubrey, Bethany and husband Jordan. He also leaves behind his special friends Jessie B. and Debbie G. as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call at the Kelley Funeral home in Pitman, NJ on Saturday, November 7th, from 10am to 11am. A memorial service will be conducted at 11am.
