Daniel K. Borregard, Sr., died this past Friday at his home in Pitman. He was born and raised in Illinois, but also lived for a number of years in Maryland and New York, coming to Pitman in 1950. He served in Europe from 1944-45 as an Army Corporal in the Ardennes, Battle of the Bulge, the Rhineland, and central Germany. After the war, he attended Gettysburg College, where he received a BA in 1950. In 1963, he received a Masters degree from Glassboro State College, (now Rowan Univ.). He taught Junior High School age (now Middle School) children in Gloucester County for 25 years, his most lasting tenure being at Clearview Regional to which he came in 1963 and retired in 1981. He was a member of the New Jersey Education Assn., the Gloucester County Retired Education Assn., the United States Chess Federation, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by a son Daniel Jr., of Alloway, brother Roger of Florida, grandson Brooke of Kentucky, his companion of many years Janet McMaster of Pitman, 3 nephews of Florida and Michigan.
