Samuel Miller Mecouch was called home to our Lord on December 27, 2009. He was a gentle, loving family man who loved to hunt grouse and whitetail deer in the fall. He killed a beautiful buck in Maine whose head was mounted on our fireplace. Miller was married twice, the first time to his high school sweetheart, Marion Bardolf of Glassboro. That marriage lasted 42 years, until Marion's death, and bore two children, a son Jay Miller and a daughter, Lisa Gaye. Miller married a second time in 1986 to JoAnn Butler of Joliet, IL. He worked at Mobil Oil for 39 years, the first 17 of them at the Paulsboro Refinery as a boilermaker and a planner. The last 22 years, he worked at the then, new Mobile Refinery in Joliet, IL as a Maintenance Supervisor. Miller served in the US Army during WWII. He served in the Tank Destroyer Battalion in France and Czechoslovakia. He was a member and Past Master Glassboro Lodge #85 F&AM and member of Tall Cedars Traveling Gavel and the Red Top Gun Club. He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn, his beloved children Jay M. Mecouch and his wife Karen of Erial, NJ and Lisa G. Vandervort and her husband Jay of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by his 7 loving grandchildren Kevin Mecouch and his wife Julia of Washington Twp, Maria Bradley of Erial, Brandon Bradley of Erial, Sara Vandervort, Samantha Vandervort and Caden Vandervort all of Chesapeake, VA. He was predeceased by two grandson Sean and Ryan Mecouch. Friends may call on Wednesday after 2:30pm with a Masonic Service at 3:30pm in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be 4:30pm in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Main St, Glassboro. Cremation private. Contributions may be made to Moorestown Hospice VNA, 300 Harper Dr., Moorestown, NJ 08057.
