Howard E. Clement, aged 84, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, April 26, 2010. Howard was born in Thorofare and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Paulsboro High School in 1943. He worked for Heritage Dairy and on the family farm until 1946, when he married Miriam Brickner and started working at James L. Eastlack, Sons, Inc. in Richwood. Shortly after his marriage he moved to Richwood where he lived until 1986. During his time at Eastlack's, he repaired, sold and delivered tractors and equipment. He managed the business after Mr. Eastlack passed away and eventually bought it. He remained at the business until he retired in 1992. He and Miriam were blessed with three sons: Robert Neil and Mark of Richwood and Glenn, who passed suddenly in 1969. He enjoyed camping, hunting and being outdoors. He was active with the scouts when his boys were young and the family went camping often. His sons joined him in the family business and worked with him until he retired. Howard was involved in the Lions Club in the 1960's. He spent many years on the Richwood Academy Association, Glassboro PBA and Elk Township Seniors Busy B's Square Dancers. He was Past President of the New Jersey Equipment Dealers Association. After Miriam passed, he found love again and married Alice Cassaday in 1986, when they moved to Hardingville. He and Alice enjoyed square dancing and traveling. Once retired they traveled the East Coast and Canada with shorter trips to Missouri to visit his brother and Indiana to visit her family. They were members of the Rainbow Square in Milmay. Howard was a longtime member of Richwood United Methodist Church. He served on the Board of Trustees for 20 years and as Head Trustee for 10. He was Head Trustee when the new parsonage was built and after his terms as Trustee ended, he was seen behind the scenes watering trees, putting up signs and helping where needed. Howard was a very patient man who loved his family and friends. He always had a smile for everyone and would help anyone. He leaves behind two sons R. Neil (Diane) and Mark of Richwood, brother Wilmer "Wit" of West Plains, MO five grandchildren, Kelly and Matt of Richwood, Natalie (Sean) Keib of Summersville, SC, Rebecca Stafanawicz (Tony) of Thorofare and Pam of Glassboro and seven great grandchildren ranging from 8 years to 4 months.
