Eugenia Baynes Gordon, 88, of Winston-Salem, died August 3, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. She was born in Wilson, NC to Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Baynes in 1921. She was formerly of Brant Beach, NJ for 16 years before living in Pitman for 30 years. She resided with her daughter and son in law since 2000 and moved to Winston-Salem in 2003. She was a graduate of Reynolds High School, Salem College, and received a MA in Library Science from Glassboro State College. She taught Spanish at Southern Regional High School, and spent 17 years as a Research Librarian at the Vineland Public Library, where she developed a program for the Spanish speaking population. She received the Pura Belpre Award for this program, from Reforma, the National Association to promote library services for the Spanish speaking population. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Pitman where she sang in the choir, the Trinity Moravian Church of Winston-Salem and served as the Music Director of the Pitman Women's Club. She was pre-deceased by her husband George F. Gordon, in 1995. Surviving are her daughter and son in law Janice and Albert Walker, 3 grandchildren Joseph, and Donald Stecher, Marguerite Riley, 10 great grandchildren, and sisters Mary Owen and Geraldine Eggleston.
