Harrison G. Shaw Sr., age 91 years, passed away peacefully on Aug. 21 at home in Monroeville surrounded by his family. Born in Blackwood, NJ, he was a lifelong resident of Glassboro. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary (nee Chillari), sons Harrison Jr. "Bud" of Brigantine, Joseph (Donna) of Monroeville, Michael of Brigantine, and daughter Anne Freshcoln (David) of Pitman, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a large extended family. Harry worked for Pennsylvania/Reading Seashore Line (Conrail) for over 30 years as a mechanic. He served in the US Army Infantry during WWII and saw combat in France with Gen. Patton's 3rd Army, 26th Infantry Div., 104th Regiment. He was captured in Nov. 1944, held until freed by Russian troops in May 1945 and discharged later that year. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars for his service to his country. He was a life member of the VFW, member of the American Legion and St. Bridget's Church; where he and Mary were married in 1946. He liked cowboy movies and books, and peanut butter crackers. Friends may call on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ, and from 10 to 10:45 AM on Wednesday at St. Bridget's Church, 125 Church St., Glassboro, NJ 08028.
