Nicholas A. Roash, age 88 years, died August 21 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 22, 1921 in New Rochelle, NY. He was a graduate of Bucknell University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Finance, was a standout shortstop on the baseball team and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the entire fraternity house enlisted on the same day. During World War II, Nicholas served in Combat Intelligence in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific. He was active on Guadalcanal, Guam, and served post war on Mainland China. In 1947, Nick married Edith Jane Slack and moved to Pitman where he lived the remainder of his life. During his years in Pitman, he was a Sales and Marketing Executive for Lever Brothers Co. and Wheaton Industries in Millville. He retired as the Executive Vice President of Wheaton Industries. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edith Jane Roash. He is survived by his sons Richard of New Castle, DE, and Randall of Strathmere, NJ, grandchildren Meredith, Elizabeth, and Nicholas, great grandchildren Aiden, Joseph, Casey, Taylor and Harrison, also many nieces and nephews. Holy Eucharist will be on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 315 Highland Terrace, Pitman, NJ 08071. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
