Clifford L. Crispin of Glassboro, NJ died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the age of 77. Born in Salem Co, Cliff graduated from Woodstown H. S. in 1952 and attended Charlotte Hall Prep in Maryland. After serving 2 years in the US Army, he earned his bachelor's degree from Temple University. He served in various roles as a teacher, coach and athletic director at Clayton H.S., Pitman H. S. and Camden Co. College. Cliff was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pitman, NJ for over 45 years, where he served as a deacon. Cliff was well known in S. Jersey as a talented and respected athlete, teacher and coach. He excelled at basketball and baseball; he still holds the MD State scoring record of 79 points in a single game, then went on to play in a Final Four NCAA Tournaments while at Temple. As a coach, he led several teams to state and national titles, and he mentored many young athletes to advance their education. Cliff will be fondly remembered by his students and peers as a dedicated leader and a true gentleman. After retiring in 1996, Cliff enjoyed traveling, his home in Ocean City, NJ and was happiest watching his grandchildren play ball. A devoted family man, Cliff shared his passion for sports, travel and the beach with his family providing many wonderful memories of time spent together. Loving husband of 54 years to Sara (Simpkins). Dear father of Steven (Susan) Crispin, Lynne (Grant) Shivers and Jeffrey (Carol) Crispin. Awesome grandfather to Joe (Erin), Jon, Kellie (Seth), Karlie, Tyler, Bethany, Jason, Aaron, Ryan, Leah, Joanne and Rebecca. Great grandfather of 5. Beloved brother of Alvin (Violet) Crispin and Barbara (Glen) Jones. Special brother in law and uncle to his many in laws, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Alvin and Rena, sister Dorothy Stultz and brother David Crispin. Friends may call on Monday 6-9pm and Tuesday 9:30-10:45am in the First Presbyterian Church of Pitman, 305 S. Broadway, Pitman, NJ 08071. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11am.
