Obituary of Jennie Piecara

Jennie Spytek Piecara, age 93 passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2011 from complications from a stroke. Daughter of Ludwig and Blanche Spytek, she was born in the U.S. and spent her early childhood years in Poland before returning to the U.S. in the 1920's. She grew up in Luzerne County, PA. and was a long time resident of Bethel Township, PA. She was married to Steven Piecara until his death in 1981. For the past 15 years Jennie enjoyed her life as a resident of Pitman, NJ. She worked briefly as a nurse, but was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life and took in foster children for many years. She respected and appreciated all living things and instilled in her children her love of animals. She enjoyed reading, cooking, writing, and gardening. Never afraid of new technology, she was proficient on her computer and used it everyday. Jennie was independent, had a great sense of humor, loved a good bargain and adored her family. She had a knack for making people feel good about themselves and touched many lives in small but meaningful ways. She continues to help others by donating her body to medical science. Pre-deceased by brother Joseph and sisters Freda and Blanche. Survived by sister Helene of Anchorage, AK. Pre-deceased by son Robert. Survived by son Jimmy Piecara of Rose Valley, PA, daughters Terri Piecara of Pitman, NJ, Kathy and Jeanie Piecara of NYC, NY. Also survived by grandchildren Cole Piecara and Jessie Blevins of Ardencroft, DE and Rhonda Ridenour of Smyrna, DE, great-grandchildren Nicole Thomas of Smyrna, DE and Gage Blevins of Ardencroft, DE, many nieces and nephews and their children and her African Grey parrot, Sweetie.
