Obituary of William B. Ross

William "Bill" Bourne Ross of Glassboro, NJ and formerly of South Burlington and Middlebury, VT, husband of Gloria Aitken-Ross, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Born and raised in Newton, MA on July 10, 1920, he was the elder son of John W. and Mabel Ross. Bill served as a U.S. Navy Seabee in the Pacific theater during World War II, attended Tuft's University earning a Master's degree in English, spent his career teaching literature to high school students in MA and NY. Bill was later Director of the Middlebury Union High School Media Center. Bill was one of the founders of the Valley Bible Church in East Middlebury, VT in the mid 1970's. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Smith Ross, Bill is survived by his three children and their spouses: Stephen and Dorothy Ross, Christine and Jack Tardie and David and Victoria Ross. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Ross and wife, Shirley, Robert and Susan Aitken, Leslie Miles, thirteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11AM Monday, March 7 in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ. Funeral service 11AM. Lunch will follow at Trinity Bible Church, 115 S. Main Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028. A burial service will be held at the Weybridge Cemetery in Vermont later in the spring.
