William Howard Blithe, 97, of Sewell, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Saturday, June 25. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise (Feurer), in 2008, after 66 years of marriage, his brother, Clinton and his sister, Hannah. He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Barbara (Bruce) Ware of Harrisville, NH, and Susan (Dale) Dietz of Mullica Hill, three grandchildren: Brett (Nicole) Ware of Savannah, GA; Alyssa (David) LaForce of Pitman; Bruce Douglas of Eugene, OR, one great-grandson, Jacob LaForce, five nephews and their families. Howard was born April 14, 1914 in Philadelphia to Caroline and Clinton Blithe. He was a butcher by trade, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Haddon Heights Ascension Lutheran Church, the oldest member of the Wenonah American Legion and a founding member of the Wenonah Lions Club. Howard was the owner of Moore's Liquor Store in Sewell for 36 years and was frequently referred to as "Mr. Moore." He could be seen for decades on Glassboro Road tending to his steers and other animals. He was an avid gardener who prided himself on his vegetable gardens. Howard was a devoted sports fan and followed the Phillies until the time of his passing. One of his fondest memories was when he kicked a field goal in 1930 for Swedesboro High School, winning the game against Pitman High School for a 3-0 victory. Howard also enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Avalon and taking frequent trips to the PA Dutch country with his family. His memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30th at Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ, visitation at 10 AM and service at 11 AM.
