Obituary of Paul Armitage Hewitt

Paul Armitage Hewitt, Jr., age 88 died on September 11, 2011. Born and raised in Bridgeton, NJ, he moved to Pitman in 1946 and has lived in Cardinal Village for the last year. Paul was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran and served from 1942-1945. He worked for American Can Co. in Philadelphia, PA, retiring in 1985 after 40 years of service. Paul was a member of the Pitman United Methodist Church where he served on the Parsonage Committee and served as an Usher. He was also a member of the Methodist Men's Club and the Care Givers Assn, Gloucester County Chapter. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed Temple and Rowan University sports and the Philadelphia Phillies. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Dorothy (nee Swartz), children Paul Michael Hewitt of Washington Twp, Sue Summe of Florence, KY and grandchildren William Summe of Griffin, GA and Erica Summe of Louisville, KY, sister in law Bea Swartz, nephews Fred Swartz, Herb Swartz and niece Marsha Kelly. Friends may call on Friday after10am in the Pitman United Methodist Church, Pitman, NJ. Memorial service will be at 11am. Interment Gloucester County Veteran's Cemetery.
