Dr. Carl W. Nienstedt, Jr., age 83 years, of Glassboro, NJ, died July 4 at Post House in Glassboro. Born in Ridgewood, NY, he had lived in Glassboro since 1962. He served his country as a Marine during WWII and Korea, retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves as a Major. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees from Bucknell University, attended Syracuse University, and was awarded his doctorate from the Univ.of Connecticut. He was Director of Admissions at Hillyer College in Hartford, CN, and Dean of Students at Central Connecticut State College. From 1962 to 1982, he served as Professor and Director of Counseling, and Associate Dean of Administration at Glassboro State College. Along with his wife, they owned the Collegetown Book Store from 1973 to 1983. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he served on the Finance Committee, and was Past President of the Church Council. He was also an avid sports fan. Predeceased by his wife Mary Ann (nee Plummer) and his son Carl W. III. Survived by his children, Barbara (Tom) McCormack, Kathie (Joe) Scaffidi, Jeffrey (Erin) Nienstedt, and Beth (Will) Wheeler, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and his brother James Nienstedt. Friends may call on Wednesday after 7 PM in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ. Funeral service on Thursday at 11 AM in St. James Lutheran Church, 400 Columbia Ave., Pitman, NJ 08071. Interment Wenonah Cemetery.
