So very sorry to hear of Bette's passing. We were co-workers at RCA/GE for many years and had the pleasure of visiting with her when she came to Florida to see her many friends. Always enjoyed seeing her and she was someone who always remembered birthdays, no matter where we lived. We fell out of touch in the last couple of years and, since moving to NC, I did not have a chance to correspond with her again. Was so saddened to hear of her illness and then her passing. My deepest condolences to her family and friends at this sad time.

Betti, Tom and family, and Beverly, Wayne, and family,
I am so sorry to learn of "Mom's" passing. She was a tremendous person. Always loving and caring. I am sorry I didn't get over to see her, but, please know that she was in my thoughts and, definitely, my prayers. My love and deepest sympathy to all of you,
Karen

We are so grateful that we visited with Bette Helverson and her daughter, Betti, in January 2008. After our lunch together, Betti drove us through the Rowan University campus. Karen attended Rowan from 1964-1966 - when it was called Glassboro State College. Karen called Bette, "Mom Bette" especially during these college years. Bette took Karen under her wing. Bette was always there during the important times such as taking photographs before the senior prom and at graduation. Karen was invited to go with Bette and her daughters, Betti and Bev, on Sunday day trips to Cape May and Dover, Delaware. Bette had remained in contact with Karen on a regular basis since those college years with cards and newsy letters. She was the example of what it really meant to be a friend. She always remembered birthdays and anniversaries with a card and a loving message - without exception. Bette and her husband, Joe, took time out of their busy lives to visit Dave and Karen at their apartment in northern New Jersey in the late 80's, and we met Bette again at a lecture at the Cathedral of the Pines in New Hampshire in the late 90's. Her laughter and broad smile and warm hugs were always there, welcoming us and including us in her warm embrace. She always had her camera with her, too, to record the event, and she always sent us the photos later so we could hold onto the memory, too. We join now with others in expressing gratitude for Bette and her life and to express our thanks for her participation in our lives.

I met Bette when I started working at MAFCO. Oddly enough, my husband then went to work at Siemens, with Bette's husband Joe! In recent years, Bette and I had been getting together about once a month for lunch with another friend, Dot Allen, who had also worked with Joe at Siemens.
I loved Bette for her strength, her kindness, and her incredible zest for life. My favorite Bette story, and what really endeared her to me, was when she was working somewhere, and Joe was at Siemens in Bellmawr. They had planned a trip to Hawaii, and then she got laid off, and it looked like Joe might too. I asked what they did then, and she laughed and said, "Oh, we went on the trip." And why not? You only live once, and Bette did it right. I will miss her very much.

Our special neighbor will certainly be missed. Always a happy smile and wave. Bette always remembered a card on our anniversry. We loved watching Bette and Joe go out in their pretty squaredance clothes. Bette may God take care of you now.

I know its been months since she has been in to see me, but I can still see her coming in to get her manicures and pedicures, me sitting on the floor putting on her shoes, she loved her nail art, her cat coat that everyone absolutely loved. She followed me from salon to salon and even came to my house. I think for more than 12 years. She was just like a grandmom to me, I am gonna miss her so much.
